The FocusFix Virtual Modelling System |
Written in Java, probably the most versatile programming language globally, Focusfix VMS allows our customers to virtually model our stock range while browsing through our catalogue and presents our customers with a correctly scaled 'true' presentation of how your new glasses will look before you purchase your perfect choice.
Most operating systems come with a version of Java already installed but its very likely its not the latest version and our software is continually being updated to take advantage of the latest technology developments, so we strongly recommend installing the latest version. Once installed Sun Microsystems will keep your OS updated. Its 100% safe and comes free by simply clicking on the "Get Java" link above. |
Login or Register |
To use Focusfix VMS and explore the full potential of our highly sophisticated software, you will need to login or register an account, directing you to the secure side of our website. Once logged in you can upload an image already saved on your hard drive by clicking on the 'browse' button or upload it directly from your mobile phone. Once you have located the desired image from your computer or phone click the 'upload' button and your image will appear before you on the 'account' page. We suggest using a front on image between 400 - 800 pixels wide to minimise upload time. But this is not essential.
Account Configuration
Once you have successfully uploaded your image click the 'configure' button below your portrait and you will be presented with a screen similar to what you see to the right. As you can see from the image, your portrait doesn't necessarily need to be central or even straight. Focusfix VMS takes care of that.
The first stage of our easy to use setup wizard is to mark out the centres of each pupil. Simply move your mouse over your portrait and you are presented with a magnifying glass to find your pupil centres more clearly. Once you have positioned the first centre click your right mouse button. Only one click is needed. Move the mouse again and do the same for your other eye. Don't worry you don't need to have your centres marked precisely. You can do that next.
On marking the centre of your second pupil Focusfix VMS crops and aligns your image, zooming the image to fill the available window. The image shown has intentionally been marked with the pupils marked off centre to show the process can be done more than once.
Mark the centres again for final cropping and your image will be correctly configured.
Enter your pupillary distance in millimeters, (P.D.) This is the distance between the centre of your pupils and can be easily taken by a friend or colleague. For help on taking this measurement visit our help page on measuring your P.D. Enter your name and click 'save'. Your account is ready for use with Focusfix VMS. For further information on the use of Focusfix VMS visit our usability help page.

Usability (Quick Tool)
Once you have successfully created your account and been through the process of configuring your portrait you can browse through our catalogue and take advantage of the many features Focusfix VMS has to offer. While browsing, images displaying the logo indicate they are ready for use with Focusfix VMS. A cropped image of you wearing the glasses will be displayed in the 3rd thumbnail window.
Click the thumbnail to show the cropped image in the display window. You can see from this cropped image if the glasses are suitable or too big or small for your face. Making your shopping experience as less time consuming as possible.
If you require bi-focal or vari-focal lenses, hover your cursor over the logo to display the frame dimensions as well as an indication as to whether the glasses are suitable for bi-focal or vari-focal lenses and which of these lenses will be required. IE/ Compact vari-focals with a shallower distant to reading section for smaller frames.
*Vari-focals are only recommended for people who have worn them before. Being a remote supplier we are unable to provide the same service as you would get from your local opticians. |
Clicking the logo will show the full image of you wearing your desired spectacles, displaying a 'true' representation of how the frames will look. As you can see from this image the spectacles are a little on the large size and the customer may be better off selecting something else.

From the start of this new concept Focusfix have remained firm in the fact that supplying bi-focal and vari-focal lenses remotely can not be made with enough accuracy to ensure spectacles are made within British or European standards and have therefore not supplied them. Accurate measurements need to be taken with the customer wearing their desired frame and with the introduction of this world leading software, SpecsOnTheNet.com are now confident we can supply these lenses with enough accuracy to comply with these standards.
Other internet traders have not been as ethical and continue to supply them, leaving them to 'guess' the correct position for the distant section of vari-focal lenses and 'guess' the correct segment height for bi-focal lenses, resulting in poorly supplied spectacles and many returns before getting them correct. Focusfix Ltd are not associated in anyway with these rouge traders and only dealings we have had with them is on a B2B basis promptly refusing to supply them when asked to guess the correct measurements for remote supply of bi-focal or vari-focal spectacles.
